This program is offered at the
Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona and is a wonderful study abroad
opportunity for all students who are interested in Spanish language and culture as well as studying university courses in English. Spain is one of the most alluring
countries in Europe, and making Barcelona your study abroad destination
will give you the opportunity to experience the rich Spanish culture and
history first-hand.
The program is designed especially for
university students wishing to spend a summer or semester in Barcelona to
study Spanish and also attend courses taught in English. There is a wide variety of courses and subjects available.
Exploring
the surrounding regions of Barcelona is an integral part of adapting to
and appreciating Spanish culture. Therefore, many excursions and weekly
cultural activities will be organized.

Please note: a min. of 4 participants is required for the program.
- Welcome dinner on your arrival day
- Airport pickup and transfer to your accommodation in Barcelona on your arrival day
- Public transportation pass for the city of Barcelona for the duration of the program
- On-site CEPA coordinator will be available to you during the program for assistance and will meet with you regularly
- Use of a cell phone for the duration of the program (calling time is
extra, phone needs to be returned at the end of the program)
- Fall or Spring semester students:
3 day / 2 night trip to Madrid, which includes a round-trip train ticket or flight from Barcelona to Madrid, a public transportation pass for Madrid, accommodation in a youth hotel, entrance tickets to various museums and an on-site CEPA coordinator will accompany your group

The courses have been designed for students wishing to spend a summer or
semester in Barcelona studying Spanish and a series of other subjects
in different fields. The Pre-established Study Abroad program takes place in two different campuses.

Transferable Academic Credit
Upon successful completion and regular attendance of the program,
students receive a certificate from
the UAB that can be validated for credits at their home university. The amount of transferable credits is at the
discretion of your own university regulations. Please check with the
academic advisor at your college or university.
Cultural Activities
As an integral part of the summer and semester programs, a vibrant and exciting social program for all students is included:
- Picasso Museum (entrance & public tour in English)
- Tour of Parc Guell with your coordinator
- Entrance to Sagrada Familia & Gaudi house
- Entrance to Fundacio Joan Miro
- Half or full day tour to Figueres & to Sitges
- Day excursion to Montserrat
- Tapas & flamenco night (Fall and Spring only)
CEPA BONUS for Fall or Spring Semester students:
- 3 day / 2 night trip to Madrid:
Includes a round-trip train ticket or flight from Barcelona to Madrid, a

Housing & Meals
Student accommodation is included in the program fee. Students will be placed in shared student apartments in the center of Barcelona, with easy access by public transportation to the UAB campus.
Meals:
Meals, except for the welcome dinner, are not included in the program fee. However, the university’s restaurants offer reasonably priced meals.
CEPA BONUS:
CEPA arranges a welcome dinner for you on your arrival day.

Financial Aid:
Most forms of financial aid, scholarships and loans may be used as payment. Applicants need to request prior approval from CEPA for a payment deferral and ensure that the deferral form is completed and approved by the home university’s financial aid department.

Autònoma de Barcelona - one of the best academic centers in Spain!
The
Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) was founded in 1968 and is a
young, dynamic insitution, and is among the best academic centres in
Spain, both for the quality of its teaching staff and for its excellent
research.
UAB is spread across a large campus and has 43,000
students from around the world. Classes will take place at the Eixample and Sant Pau
Campuses. The Eixample Campus is situated in the central part of the city, just a few meters away from one of Barcelona's most important avenues - the Passeig de Gràcia. It was renovated completely in 2009. There is a wide variety of restaurants, cafes and terraces located nearby.
The Sant Pau campus is located in a very quiet and central part of Barcelona. The complex was declared a Historic Artistic Monument in 1978 and later named part of UNESCO's Cultural Heritage for Humanity in 1997. The facility is equipped with the most modern information and communications technology and also offers catering, a restaurant and a cafeteria.
The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona is recognized by the Spanish Ministry of Eduction and Science as a degree granting institution of higher learning.
About the city
Barcelona is an innovative, cosmopolitan city on the Mediterranean
coast, famous around the world for its culture and architecture. It has
grown and developed for more than two thousand years and many of its
sites are now recognized by UNESCO as world heritage sites.
You
can witness Barcelona’s history first hand, from Roman walls, to
medieval Barcelona, to the Gothic Quarter and on to the 19th century
urban development and the more recent expansions to the city.
Talking
about Barcleona means also talking about artists like Antonio Gaudí,
Joan Miró, Pablo Picasso and Mies Van der Rohe. All of them have left
traces of their great constributions in the city. La Pedera, la Sagrada
Familia and the Parc Güell are some examples of the fantastic Catalanian
modernism.
Numerous museums, churches, the cathedral, exhibition
halls, the best concerts and the most important events, conventions and
congresses have made Barcelona the most active, vibrant and open-minded
city in Spain.
How to apply
Admission Requirements:

Must be at least 18 years old
- A minimum 2.75 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
- In good academic standing on home campus
- Must be enrolled at a university in home country before, during and after the study abroad program
